It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. While I tend to think hard work and hustle account for more than this phrase might credit, developing a trusted network of knowledgeable friends is one of the best things you can spend time doing.

Networking is more than attending a conference once a year to collect stacks of business cards you will keep in your drawer. Those cards are worthless unless you do something with them. With the rapid rate at which public relations and social media change, if you’re not reaching out to new contacts EARLY and OFTEN, you’re missing out.
