One Word Goal The Shabby Nest

My name is Wendy Hyde, I am a Utah interior designer and I blog about interior design, decor and DIY at The Shabby Nest. I have been writing The Shabby Nest since 2008.

In 2011, it was chosen by Country Living Magazine as the best design blog of the year in their Blue Ribbon Blogger Awards. My first book, Decorating For Real Life, came out this last October, and I am currently working on a new book to be released at the end of 2015.

Decorating for Real Life

I have been choosing a “word of the year” for the past several years, and I was really excited to be asked to participate in this blog series so that I could share my 2015 word of the year with all of you!

My 2015 word of the year is

2015 word of the year

Here’s the thing. Life can be hard. I’ve had my fair share of challenges these past few years. And I learned that more than anything, it’s important to still have dreams. If we give up on our dreams, we really have nothing to hold on to. As I went through these difficulties during the past few years, I could really have let my life get me down. I could have succumbed to the darkness of despair. Instead, I chose to pursue some of the dreams that I have had for many years.

As a result, I now have a published book…something which has been on my bucket list for years! I also have another book in the works. Because I have pursued my dreams, I have met wonderful friends and had opportunities that may have never come otherwise.

And so in 2015, I am going to make a concerted effort to follow my dreams. I am going to define what they are, and how I can pursue them. Following my dreams will help me find my potential, which is what life is all about!

I encourage you to follow your dreams as well! You never know where they might take you.

xoxo
